A self-assessment questionnaire (SAQ) is a standard set of questions through which suppliers set out their sustainability practices by self-declaration. In the automotive industry, the common questionnaire developed by the Drive Sustainability initiative is widely used.
The SAQ is a document-based assessment: the answers given to the questions are expected to be supported by uploaded documents. A declaration alone is not considered sufficient, and the answers are reviewed by an independent party.
The practical consequence of using a common platform is that the supplier can complete the questionnaire once and share the result with several buyers.
