PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is the process of demonstrating that the production process can consistently produce product meeting customer requirements under series conditions.
When is it required?
- For a new part
- For an engineering change
- When the production location is moved
- When the supplier or material changes
- After a prolonged production stoppage
Failing to notify a change is the mistake with the most serious consequences in practice.
What does it cover?
The package contains a set of evidence ranging from the design record to measurement results, from the PFMEA and control plan to MSA studies and capability data. It is completed with the Part Submission Warrant.
Important production condition
Samples must have been produced with series production equipment, series tooling, series operators and at series rate. PPAP cannot be submitted with parts produced under prototype conditions.
The submission level is determined by the customer, and customer-specific requirements add to the standard elements.
